Christian, Husband, Dad, Evangelist, Teacher
John Davis Jones is currently working towards his PhD in Religious Studies from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He holds a BA in Biblical Studies, a MA in New Testament, and a MDiv from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee. In 2013, John and his wife Erin moved to Porirua, New Zealand to work with congregations in the Wellington region. After two years serving as ‘missionaries-in-residence’ at FHU from 2019-2021, John, Erin, and children moved back to Porirua in 2021 to continue work with Christians there and for John to begin his PhD work. While completing PhD work, John is currently teaching Biblical and Religious Studies at Sattler College in Boston, Massachusetts.
John’s research interests include the history of international ‘restoration movements,’ political theology, and the fascinating intersections where they meet.
John hopes to encourage Christians worldwide to work towards unity in Christ by: constantly examining their beliefs in light of Scripture, “test[ing] everything[,] and hold[ing] fast what is good” (1 Thess. 5:21)
